what we believe

Our desire at Calvary Chapel Stafford is for all to know Jesus as Christ and be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit and through the process of sanctification, standing on His promise that "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17)

God is Creator of heaven and earth, as it says in Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." And has eternally existed as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and also one God.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a life free of sin, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the whole world by dying on a cruel Roman cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended physically and visibly into Heaven and will someday return to earth in the same manner to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is “with” us as He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for a Savior. He lives “in” us when we become Born Again. And He comes “upon” us as we are baptized with the Holy Spirit so that we can live out our faith with “power” according to Acts 1.

The Bible is God’s inspired word to His people. Though it was written by “flawed” individuals, the Bible however is not flawed. God “inspired” men from all walks of life at different times during the history of the Jewish people to record for us His message to us. He used men such as kings and prophets, doctors and warriors, fig pickers and prime ministers, fishermen and tax collectors to complete His “inspired” Perfect Word.

At Calvary Chapel Stafford we worship because He is worthy. And though most Christians believe worship is done with song and that true worship manifests itself in emotions, we also worship Him thru our intellect (as we study His Word verse by verse) and through our obedience and suffering.

We look forward to His soon and eminent return for His Bride in what is called the Rapture of the church.

We believe there is only one way to Heaven, and that is thru believing in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, believing that His atoning work on the Cross was a sufficient payment for your sins and becoming Born Again.
